Summer is almost here and all I keep thinking about are my carefree days
of doing more of the things that I love.
I know, I know...the life of a teacher...
But it is a stressful job!
The summer definitely helps me de-stress
and prepare for the challenges ahead.
Nothing helps my stress level go down like volunteering.
Everything about helping others makes me breathe a little better,
sleep more soundly, and know that this world is filled with amazing people.

“DoveLewis offers a variety of community programs, and the Stray Animal and Wildlife Program is one of the most highly utilized,” said Kate Goudschaal, DoveLewis Director of Communications. “We spend upwards of $250,000 every year caring for injured stray animals and wildlife. Every penny donated to this program goes directly towards supporting animals right here in our own backyard.”
More than 650 participants and their canine companions are expected to hit the pavement of NW Portland this year for the flat and fast 5K run/walk. The intersection of NW 19th and Raleigh in Portland will serve as both the start and finish of the pet- and family-friendly event. Post-race festivities will include food, drink, a street fair, live entertainment, fun contests and prizes.
