We Strut Proudly

We are proud to strut.
We strut for all the dogs waiting to find their human.
We strut for the humans who need a furry best friend.
We strut to support Fences For Fido and the amazing work they do.
Actually, we are proud to strut for any animal agency...
because we all work together to bring awareness, education,
and life-changing projects to people around the Pacific Northwest.
And we are proud to be a part of it.

This is one of our favorite events.
It's small enough that it's not overwhelming to Murphy.
He loves to go to dog events.
There are always cool dogs to meet and humans he can trust.
As you know, Murphy is scared of people,
but when he is around people with their dogs he does so well.
He snuggles into humans all around me
and my heart does little flips of joy.
Little loves from Jeff and Patti...
There's a different feeling at a small event,
like a family get-together.
There are lots of smiles, hugs, and happy sounds.
All of those things make Murphy feel more at ease.
And when Murphy is at ease, so am I.
I was so proud of him for meeting so many people,
and being so polite to everyone that we actually
skipped out of the walk and went to the river bank.
 I know, I know...
but you see, I like to end every event with Murphy on a good note.
He had done so well, that I didn't want to push my luck for any longer.
So we beached it.
And we loved it.
Nothing makes a Murphy happier than splashing in a HUGE splashy pool.
Doesn't this make you smile?
If so, maybe you could go over and make a little donation to
It will go to save more lives like this guy and his cooky best girl friend, IO.
Both were saved due to people giving a little money to help animals.
It's a good life.

Struttin' to Save Them All

Yep, we strut.
Murphy and I love to strut and strut well.
We're talented at strutting.
If you lived in our neighborhood
then you would see this amazing strutting at least twice a day.
Of course there's a lot of sniffing during those struts,
but we still strut strong.
Often we lend our strutting abilities to animal charities around Portland.
I believe that our strutting helps immensely. ;)
You know what else would help immensely?
YOU!
Yep, you.
You are the difference.
Murphy and I will be strutting our stuff on September 13th
for the Best Friends Animal Society at Sellwood Riverfront Park.
As Best Friends, Murphy and I have to be there!
We will be walking in support of our heart charity Fences For Fido.
So how can you help?
Here are a couple ways;

1) Join us and strut your stuff!
You could join our FFF pack or another charity.  It doesn't matter really, because we all work together.  That's one of the beautiful things about the Portland animal community.

2) Donate to Murphy.
He'll strut his stuff for you!  I promise that his tail will be high, he'll sniff everywhere, and give big tongue smiles the entire way.  He's an expert strutter, I'm just his companion on this day.

And his sweet little best friend Miss IO will strut her cute stuff too. Probably in her adorable rain coat...seriously, she just the cutest.

3) Volunteer to help at the event.
People and their passion make this event happen.  You could be a part of making it a success!

4) Adopt, don't shop for your next pet.
Really, this is what it's all about anyway.  Watch the following video and see why it's so important to support animal shelters.

Help Best Friends break the puppy mill cycle and save lives

As always, thank you for supporting my furry friends
and all of my fur-goals to help others meet their best friend.
Big Hugs,
Lori and Murphy (WOOF!)

Strut Your Mutt 2013

September 28, 2013
We strut through any weather.
People asked me if I was still going to the event,
even though the weather report called for sideways rain
and strong winds.
My response...
"Of course I'm going! Murphy has to play and walk outside
no matter what the weather called for in the day."
You see, dog people are different.
It's not that I love stomping in the rain, though sometimes it's true...
It's just that Murphy loves being outside, especially when his best friend IO is involved.
He loves his Miss IO.
So, we put on our rain gear, well I did, and set out for a fun morning with our friends.
At this event, we feel a little like celebrities.
Not for a real, legit reason, but just because Murphy looks like the mascot of this event.
Don't you think?
So as we strut, people make comment about how cute he is and how he looks like the logo.

I feel proud, because I'm his human, and he looks at them, trying to figure out why they are talking to him.
No matter what happens, we just keep strutting our stuff for The Best Friend Animal Society with my Fences for Fido family.  It's the best way to spend a Saturday morning.
But the very, very best part of this event was an opportunity for Murphy to strengthen his budding friendships.  Any time that Murphy can have a positive interaction with humans is a good day in our book. That day was a very good day thanks to Jerry and Jesse for working their "Dog Whispering" magic on Murphy.
Being so close to the water, we had to make a splashy stop.
Thanks to everyone for joining us and making that a fantastic day for the animals.
