Pom Pom Wreath

It seems like I was just putting up my 4th of July wreath, and that was the end of June.
Poof! Where did July go?

It was time for a change, so I looked around Pinterest, trying to find something to create using materials that I have around the house.  I have a ton of fabric, but I also have a TON of yarn, giving to me by a fabulous colleague at work.  So...what to do? Make Pom Poms, of course!

Oh Crafts: Pom pom flowers ideas

This site has so many fantastic and easy ideas...take a look when you get a chance, and go ahead and pin something too! :0) I like the flowers, and I'm probably going to make these somewhere else in my house, but that is not going to work for my door.  So I just adapted the idea.

Pom Pom Wreath
Supplies:
  • wreath- I picked one up at the dollar store!
  • yarn
  • scissors
  • ribbon
That's it...easy list of supplies, huh?!
Directions:
1. Choose yarn.  Now I had a mess of yarn to choose from...
There...that's better...

2. Begin wrapping the yarn around your fingers.  For a large pom pom, use 3 or 4 fingers, and wrap around many times.  The more wraps, the thicker the pom.

3. Slip it off of your hand and place it in the middle of a piece of yarn the same color. You will use this yarn to tie it on the wreath, so make sure it's long enough!
 4. Tie the single piece of yarn around the middle, in a tight knot.
5.Carefully cut the loops and the trim the ends to make an even pom.

6. Tie in on your wreath!
7. Now repeat...30 times! :0)
Lastly, hang it on your door and add some ribbon.
Poof! You're done!
Enjoy! :0)

Rag Wreath Love

~The blog today is a look back at a craft that I created at the beginning of July. :0)

Looking for wreath ideas on Pinterest,
was like looking for moles in the park...they were everywhere!
Butt in the air = Murphy was in doggy heaven!

While I search for ideas, I always keep in mind the supplies that I already have on hand.  Why purchase, when I can make beauty (hopefully) out of scraps?  Plus, I have a basement full of things that I've gathered at garage sales, scrap bins, and gifts from other crafters.  Thank goodness for my basement! :0)

I loved the idea of using fabric. Not only do I have a ton, but I enjoy working with it.  So, thankfully I found a fantastic blog, Shay B~ a look through my lens with an excellent tutorial for making a rag wreath.

Isn't it pretty?!

I wanted to create something with a little more variety of color...something that said, "Hello July!" Nothing would do but red, white, and blue to start July and bring in the sunshine.

Following the tutorial, I cut strips and began to tie each piece.

It was a slow process, but the end result was beautiful!

When done, hang it on the door and add a bow...

Tada!
I just love it! In fact, it's staying up for the rest of July
and makes me smile when I walk through the door. :0)

I enjoyed making them so much that I just had to make more...
Welcome back to PDX Kristi!

For Sparker~my fantastic taste tester.
It's a tough job, but I'm glad that you and Scott can handle it! Ha!

If you're looking for a fun and beautiful craft, try this!  All the skill you need is the cut strips and tie knots...piece of cake!

Now back to the difficult task of hunting moles!

Happy Crafting,
Lori
